Virgil Clark Obituary

Virgil Marion Clark, 98, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on November 15, 2017 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born in Henderson, Texas on January 25, 1919 to Marion Edwin Clark and Nellie (Ellis) Clark.

Virgil married Mildred Todd in 1938. They had two children, Sharron (1940) and Kennith (1942). When WWII started Virgil was exempt from the draft due to having 2 children. He worked in Houston at the shipyards at the beginning of WWII, but his inner call to duty had him enlist in the Army where he served until the war's end. He was honorably discharged and returned to Houston and his young family, and began his career as a home builder. His first retirement came in 1967 when he and Mildred started a new business selling art supplies as Mildred taught art classes. Also at this point Mildred had started a wedding catering business. Both businesses continued until the second retirement in 1981. They sold out and moved back to the Todd family farm near Caledonia. Virgil built a woodworking shop and raised a few cows. All was well until Mildred passed away in 1993.

In 1996 Virgil married Nadeyne Cooper from Henderson. He and Nadeyne enjoyed going antiquing, finding treasures he could return to his woodworking shop and complete restoration. Life for the Clarks' was centered around family, farm, and Caledonia Methodist Church, Timpson Methodist Church, and Garrison Methodist Church.

He lived his dream as a gentleman, cattleman, and woodworking master. Virgil was admitted to Garrison Nursing Home in July 2016. With his passing we say, "good bye and God Bless" to a life well lived and a family well served.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Nadeyne Clark; grandchildren, Todd Lykke and spouse Amy, Paul Clark and spouse Melissa, Jayne Clark; son-in-law, Clifford Lykke; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Todd Clark; son, Kennith Clark; daughter, Sharron Clark Lykke; and sister, Lula Mae Clark Hollingsworth.
