Graveside service for Uradee (Baker) Dockrell, of Pasadena, TX, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 1, 2013, at Shady Grove Cemetery, Timpson, TX, with Rev. Rick Anderson officiating.
Her full name was Uradee Baker Dockrell, but everyone called her Aunt Tenchie. Born in Timpson, Texas, November 24, 1915, she was 97 years old when she passed away in Center, Texas on March 28, 2013.
Her parents were William Thomas "Tom" Baker and Arie Richards Baker. Her brother and sisters were
Erel Baker Rhodes Laake, Walter Thomas "Jack" Baker, Thelma Baker Moore, Katie Baker Cole, and Yvonne Baker Baker. She was married to Melvin Dockrell July 13, 1948, and he preceded her in death.
During World War II she served as an aviation defense contractor and was an airplane ferry pilot, flying the new airplanes to the Army from the assembly plant. Tenchie grew up in Shelby County, Texas. She graduated from Timpson High School and was a college graduate. She had a long professional career with the Texas Employment Commission in Pasadena, Texas. Tenchie was also a licensed beautician.
Other family members include nephews Tommy Moore, Phillip Baker, and Ronnie Cole; nieces Avie Rhodes and Shelba Rhodes (deceased); 12 great nieces and nephews and 8 great great nieces and nephews.
