Rita Ann Graves, 70, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on March 26, 2017 in Center, Texas. She was born on October 19, 1946 in Columbus, Georgia, to Louis Leon and Lana Evelyn (Griggs) Johnson. Graveside service will be on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Timpson, Texas.
Rita was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia graduating from Columbus High School. She and her family then moved to Destin, Florida where her grandparents owned a motel on the beach. She became a professional fishing guide for tourists that came to Destin for vacation. She was not only a guide but fished for a living, catching over a 200lb grouper one day. She married the love of her life, Richard Graves, in April 1966 whom she has spent over 50 years with before going to be with her Lord. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Rita's past time hobbies include genealogy and observing nature. She absolutely loved watching the birds and squirrels. Rita was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter No. 49 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Rita is survived by loving husband, Richard; son, Brad Graves; daughter, Ginger Chapin and husband Edward; one grandson, Gannon Kyle Graves; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
