Richard Colombus Hightower

Graveside services for Richard C. Hightower, 89, of Timpson, will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Bro. Orville Miller and Bro. John E. Raines officiating.

Richard Hightower (Pop), age 89, of Timpson, went home to be with his Lord on January 7. 2026.

He was born on September 15, 1936 in Eunice, New Mexico to Pauline and James Andrew Hightower.

Richard is survived and missed by his wife of 38 years, Leatha; son Rick Hightower (Vicki), daughter Debra Stamnitz (Glen), stepsons Tim Bush (Janelle), Trevin Bush (Janice), Sean Bush (Sondra) and daughter-in-law Cindy Bush. He will be forever cherished and remembered as Pop, Poppy, or Rinky Dink by his 19 grands, 21 great-grands and many stepgrands. He was predeceased by his mother, Pauline, father “Paul”, three brothers, one sister and step-son Todd Bush.

Richard served his country in Korea and loved to talk about how cold it was there. He returned to spend most of his life working in the retail business as a manager of several Beall’s stores across the state. After retirement, he loved his bus driving job and the kids who rode his bus.

Pop loved his Lord, his family, his friends, his church, the Astros, golf, anything to do with space travel, and traveling around the country in the motor home.

Richard was such a kind man with a “heart of gold”. He has left a void.
