Petra Ann (Everest) Risinger

Petra Ann (Everest) Risinger, 72, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on November 16, 2023, in Center, Texas. She was born on October 31, 1951, in Seattle, Washington, to the late David and Millie (Stewart) Everest. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Taylor Funeral Home in Timpson, Texas. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.

 A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Taylor Funeral Home in Timpson, Texas.

Petra was raised in Seattle, Washington and Slidell, Louisiana. Petra met the love of her life, Johnny, in Nacogdoches and the two were married in December of 1982. “Pet”, as she was affectionately called by Johnny, was a devoted wife and mother to her 3 boys. Petra worked at a radio station in Nacogdoches before becoming a teacher/librarian. She worked as a teacher/librarian in Timpson and Chireno from 1985 until retiring in 2013. Petra enjoyed reading and playing the piano. She spent many hours tatting (making intricate doilies). Petra loved tending to her flower gardens and canning the vegetables that she and Johnny grew. She was always running the roads and had a good time traveling. Petra was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nacogdoches, where she worked in the office for a short time. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Petra is survived by her boys, Tate Brock and wife, Debbie, David Brock and wife, An, and Darrin Minderman and wife, Yanira; grandchildren, Jamie Jones and husband, John, Tasha Cloutier and husband, John, Travis Clouse and fiancé, Tamra Easom, Shelby Brock, Addison Brock, Valeria Quinones, Miranda Minderman, and Juliet Minderman; 11 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Millie Everest; and her loving husband, Johnny Risinger.
