Born June 18, 1938, in Carthage, TX, Mellie June Yarbrough was the daughter of the late Lawrence Clifton Dickerson, Sr., and Mellie Briggs Dickerson. She graduated from Carthage High School and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. June enjoyed various occupations throughout her life. She taught school while living in Alaska and was a poultry farmer for 40 years in the Stockman Community of Shelby County. During this time she also owned and operated a business and drove a school bus for the Timpson Independent School District. Even though she was always busy, she found time to enjoy family get togethers and take Sunday afternoon drives to visit family and friends.
Survivors include her sons Edward Yarbrough and wife Deborah of Belcher, LA, and Mark E. Yarbrough of Timpson; daughter Pam L. Yarbrough of Timpson; brothers Larry N. Dickerson and wife Allie of Lafayette, LA, and Charles C. "Brick" Dickerson and wife Vickie of Carthage, TX; sister Wanda Nell Belcher of Vermont; grandchildren Daniel E. Yarbrough and wife Ryan of Haughton, LA, and Joseph A. Yarbrough and wife Callie of Baton Rouge, LA; soon to arrive in November, great grandson Knox Yarbrough; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, June Yarbrough was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence C. Dickerson, Jr., and Arthur "Tuffy" Dickerson.
