Lewis Ramsey Obituary

Born March 31, 1924, in Joaquin, Texas, Fain Ramsey was the son of the late John Jackson and Sarah Jane (Ferguson) Ramsey. He was one of seven children. Mr. Ramsey graduated from Joaquin High School.

After serving in the United States Army during WWII, Mr. Fain returned to Joaquin to work with his brothers building homes in the Houston area. Mr. Ramsey met his soul mate and was married to Sybil Lee Culberson Ramsey until the Lord called her home in 2002. They moved to Longview, Texas where Fain was self-employed as a cabinet maker and owned his own cabinet shop before retiring finally at the age of 79. He enjoyed fishing any opportunity he had to do so. He spent much time on the Sabine River catching big ones. Fain also loved traveling to Alaska and the scenery that was in Alaska. Mr. Ramsey made many trips to and from Alaska by himself and with his brother before his health failed. Mr. Fain was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church of Longview, Texas and loved his church dearly.

Survivors include daughter, Susan Carr and husband Raymond of Kenai, Alaska, 7 nephews, and two nieces.

In addition to his parents, Fain was preceded in death by his loving wife of 29 years, Sybil Lee; two brothers and four sisters.
