Juanita was reared and attended school in Timpson and Mexia, graduating from Mexia High School in 1939. She married her childhood sweetheart, John Perry Green on December 27, 1939. Their holy union produced four children. They were helpmates to one another for 54 years until his death on April 4, 1994. Together they ran a dairy, poultry farm, tomato farm, raised cattle and horses, and pursued other various agricultural endeavors. The love of the land and anything agriculturally based continues with their descendants.
Juanita and John Perry lived a Christian life as an example for their children. Among the numerous examples, they opened their home to friends and family from the Timpson area who came to Houston to help in the war effort during World War II.
Juanita loved family history and was instrumental in establishing the Timpson Area Genealogical and Heritage Society, of which she was a charter member. She was member of the Tennessee Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was an active mother in all of her children's interests and activities. The 4-H organization recognized her as an outstanding leader.
After John Perry's death, she enjoyed traveling the United States. Even when physically unable to travel, Juanita continued to learn about new places through her "talking books." Juanita had an amazing memory, and would entertain her family with stories of her ancestors and childhood. She was known for her "snake" stories. Juanita was an excellent cook and her family has fond memories of her fried chicken and yeast rolls.
