Joycelyn Todd Obituary
Friends and Family are invited to the memorial services for Joycelyn Marie Todd to be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at her residence located at 2076 County Rd 4789 in Timpson, TX 75975 at 1:00pm. Joy passed away peacefully in Missouri City, TX on Monday, April 8, 2019.
Born October 19, 1931, in New Iberia, LA, Joycelyn Marie Robicheaux was the daughter of the late Clarence (Jack) Robicheaux and Yola Louviere Robicheaux. When Joy was 22, while working for Ford, her brother Carroll set her up on a blind date with William (Bill) H. Todd. Joy and Bill were married a year later on May 29, 1955 in New Iberia. They raised their five children in Houston, and eventually retired to Timpson, TX in 1986.
While it was an adjustment moving to the "country"; Joy met some wonderful people who shared in her love of gardening, playing bridge and quilting. She enjoyed hosting dinners and high teas for family and friends over the years. She loved arts and crafts, such as painting and sewing. Joy loved being surrounded by family at the "farm" and keeping her ten grandchildren for extended visits.
After the death of her husband, Bill, Joy moved to Missouri City, where she loved watching her beloved Astros and Texans on TV as well as attending games. Some of her favorite past times included playing chicken foot, card games, watching old movies and going out to eat. Joy was an avid reader, spending most of her days curled up with a good book. She was extremely charismatic and personable; Joy loved a good joke and never met a stranger.
Joy is survived by her five children: Donna Todd, Lysa Donalson and husband Tom of East Bernard, TX and Michelle King and husband Ty of Mercer Island, WA., William H. Todd, Jr. and wife Susan of Jacksonville, TX and David Todd and wife Carole of Houston, TX. Ten grandchildren: Meredith Todd and wife Monica of Huntsville, TX, Nicholas King, Jonathan King, Caitlin Todd, Braden Horn Todd, Riley Todd, Kurt Todd, Wyatt Todd, Bryce Todd and Kyle Todd. And four great grandchildren: Michelle Ward, Hadley Dobson, James Ward and Addison Donalson.
