Graveside services for John F. Eakin, 83, of Dallas, TX, will be held at 11:00 AM, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Corinth Cemetery outside Timpson, TX.

John Frederick Eakin passed away on July 2, 2026, at the age of 83, after a long illness. Born on November 30, 1942, in Orange, Texas, John was a true Texan through and through. He spent his youth in East Texas before making the Dallas area his home for the last 60 years.

John retired after a long career with Southwestern Bell. Those who knew him remember a man who lived life fully — always ready for a party, out on the water sailing (barefoot, of course), or on the golf course. And if you knew John, you knew about the Jack and Coke — because it bears mentioning twice.

He met his wife Ellen through the Dallas Ski Club in the 1990s, and the two skied together for years to come. John and Ellen built their dream home together on their equestrian property in Denton County, where they loved hosting friends and family, including their infamous annual Cinco de Mayo party. He and Ellen shared a love of their farm and horses, and John was, by every measure, a wonderful horse husband. Together they traveled extensively, building a life full of adventure and shared experiences. One of John's favorite things in life was traveling with his son, Brad — a bond that also went back to John's years coaching Brad's soccer team.

John cherished simple pleasures, too: cocktails after work with his Dad, fashion shopping with his Mom, a bowl of bean soup at Mi Cocina, or chicken fried steak at the Prairie House, and the company of his beloved cat, Ani.

John is survived by his wife of 22 years, Ellen Eakin; his son Brad Eakin and daughter-in-law Mandy Eakin; and his granddaughter, Mira Eakin.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
