Jimmy Norris Nix, Sr.

Jimmy Norris Nix, Sr., 86, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2022, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on August 31, 1936, in Jumbo Community in Panola County, Texas, to the late Alva and Macy Marie (Hudman) Nix. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas, officiated by Bro. Jackie Harris. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, Mt. Enterprise, Texas.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas.

Jimmy was born in the Jumbo Community of Panola County, Texas.  He attended high school at Carthage High School where he graduated in 1954. He married Jerry M. Rains on April 21, 1956, and they were married for 58 years before her passing.  Jimmy enjoyed being outdoors on the ranch.  He spent many hours on his bulldozer and tractor baling hay.  Jimmy loved the Lord and spent his life in devotion to Him. He was the pastor of Highway Tabernacle, his childhood church, for many years.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Sharon Bridges; son, Jimmy Nix, Jr. and wife, Lucy; sisters, Ima Wikoff and husband, Melvin, Betty Kirbow and husband, Leondred, Brenda Harris and husband, Jackie, and Janice Travis; grandchildren, Trey Nix, III, Casey Nix and wife, Lauren, Kelly Nix, Jackie McDonald and husband, Chase, Kayla Nix-Lowry, and Stephanie Kay; great-grandchildren, Logan Nix, Chloe Nix, Grant Nix, Wyatt Nix, Sutton McDonald, CJ McDonald, and Reagan Kay.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jerry M. Nix; parents, Alva and Macy Marie (Hudman) Nix; son, Jonathan Nix; and brother, Charles Nix.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jim McDonald, Tim McDonald, Trey Nix, III, Casey Nix, Chase McDonald, and Logan Nix. Honorary pallbearer is Jerry Bridges.
