JEREL PIERCE Obituary

?Born January 26, 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona, Jerel Wayne Pierce was the son of the late Millard Filllmore and Virginia Lee (Von Meter) Pierce. Jerel served in the United States Army during Vietnam, and was awarded with several medals including the Bronze Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (w/ 2 stars), Vietnam Campaign Medal (w/60 Device),and Good Conduct Medal. He was honored to serve his country.

He later received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Earth Science. Jerel greatly enjoyed his work as a Geophysicist for 40 years, and had the rare opportunity to travel the world during this time. He took great pride in everything he did, but the most important thing to him was his family. He met Kathy while working in Amarillo, however, their careers took them in different directions and locations. Several years later, they crossed paths in Houston, rekindled a friendship, and were married in June 2002. Jerel lived by the words, "Faith, Hope, and Love, and the greatest of these is Love".

He always envisioned one day retiring quietly on a farm, and was finally able to bring this dream to life with his beloved wife Kathy. They loved building WayKat Farm together over the last 10 years, and raising their cattle and chickens. They just recently finished building their beautiful dream home that he was able to enjoy this past week with Kathy.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy; daughter, Alisha Pierce and children, DJ and Allie; stepchildren, Chad Danner, wife Cindy and children, Stevie, Stacie, Cameron, Jamie, Travis and Vandon; Jennifer Wolf, husband Jeffery and children, Baily, Hayden, Travis, and Harrison; Shane Danner and wife Megan; 5 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many other family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Jerel is preceded in death by his parents; Kathy's parents, Al and Frankie Matocha; and Alisha's grandparents, Vernon and Fay Feagin; and brothers Ridden and wife Caroline, Russell and wife May, and Gregory Pierce.
