Gary Caryl

Gary Caryl was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Royce and Angeline Todaro Caryl on November 7, 1958.  He passed from this life on Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Nacogdoches, Texas.  He spent his childhood just as any young boy with 3 brothers would have….playing outside and running around with his siblings doing “boy things”.  Gary loved the area he lived in but decided the snow and cold was a bit much.  On a whim, he loaded up and moved to the beautiful pineywoods and made his home in Timpson, Texas near other family members.  He loved being able to enjoy the same beauty he grew up with in Northern Illinois but did not have to deal with the extreme cold and snow.  He loved it here.  Gary spent his spare time fishing at Lake Murvaul and enjoying the peacefulness that came from living in a quaint country setting, surrounded by friendly people and beautiful scenery.  Gary was a man with a large stature but the heart of a servant.  He loved being a helper to anyone who needed it and that was something he has been his entire life.  He was nicknamed “Bear” because he was as big as a bear but brought comfort and happiness to those around him, much like a teddy bear.  Gary, being the “giver” he was, proved his love of mankind in his final gesture as he gave sight to someone without it by donating his corneas to two individuals in need.  Gary’s family hopes his views on life will carry on to those who were the recipient of his last and final good deed.

Gary is survived by his loving parents, Royce and Angeline Todaro Caryl of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, Jeffrey Caryl and wife, Jill of Chicago, Ronald Caryl and wife, Sandra of Chicago, Illinois and James Caryl and wife, Patty of Bloomingdale, Illinois;  He is also survived by two very special nephews.

Funeral service for Gary Caryl will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Taylor Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Taylor Funeral Home.
