Ross grew up in the beautiful hills of Arkansas. He was a graduate of the 7th grade at Turner Primary School when he went to work helping his family. At the age of 16, he began his career working for West Tree Service, this is where he found his true calling. While traveling for his job he made his way into East Texas where he met the love of his life Alice Joy Crump. They were married on May 20, 1962, in Carthage, Texas. They then moved to Pasadena, Texas, where he started his own tree business. He and Alice raised their 3 children enjoying many trips camping and fishing. After the children were grown, they moved to Nacogdoches, Texas and opened the feed store, “Ross Grain”, that they ran for 7 years. Ross worked at SFASU for 15 years as grounds foreman and retired in 2008. He loved the great outdoors and was his happiest riding his side by side, visiting neighbors and being with his family. He will be remembered for his teasing jokes and entertaining stories.
