Evelyn Tinsley Obituary

Evelyn Lacy Tinsley, 95, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Timpson. She was born on July 28, 1921 in Wolfe City, Texas to Albert Sidney Lacy and Mollie Stone Lacy. A graveside service was held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas, with the Rev. Keith Niager officiating.

Evelyn grew up in Wolfe City where she received her high school diploma. Although an only child, Evelyn's first cousin, Mary Helen Reed Watson lived with Evelyn's parents before she was born. Most people thought that Mary and Evelyn were sisters. On November 26, 1942, she married the love of her life, John E. Tinsley, and the two stayed faithfully by one another's side until his death in March 1991. The legacy that is their lifetime, lives on in the host of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that are a product of their love.

Evelyn was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed being a mom, but life was even sweeter when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn had a love like no other for her grandbabies, and they loved her just the same.

She took great pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. When she was not surrounded by family, you could find Evelyn reading. She very much loved a good book. In her earlier years, Evelyn was also very faithful in her church, Riverside United Methodist, where she was a member of the choir. She also enjoyed sewing club and was in the Kiwanis Ladies Auxiliary.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Evelyn's caregivers and friends, Glenda and Tonya. She loved these ladies as if they were a part of her family and they loved her as well. Thank you for your deep devotion to our mother and grandmother for those two beautiful years.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Margaret Crump and husband, Jim, and Janet Niager and husband, Keith; grandchildren, Tina Crump Meade, J. Michael Crump, Jr., John Crump, Megan Niager, and Jeremy Niager; great-grandchildren, Gaston Meade, Emily Meade, Cullen Meade, Saxton Crump, Liam Crump, Riley Lynn Crump, and Noah Crump; nieces, Patricia Carlisle, Frances Parsons, Beverly Lightfoot, and Rosemary Robertson.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John E. Tinsley, parents, Albert and Mollie Lacy, and one great granddaughter, Mackenzie Crump.
