Dora Lee Coan

Dora Lee Coan, 78, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on August 25, 2017 in Timpson. She was born in Palo Pinto County, Texas on May 6, 1939 to Alton Emmitt and Nannie Mae Hale Stephens. Funeral service for Dora will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 28, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Bro. William Dee Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel.

Dora spent her early childhood years in Grayford, Texas before moving to South Houston in the 1940's. Later she attended Pasadena High School graduating class of 1957. She attended Lon Morris College on a vocal scholarship. She married Elroy Bert Coan in 1960 in Durant, Oklahoma and traveled with him while he played college and professional football. They later moved to the Conroe area where they raised their children. Several years after retirement they decided to move back to Timpson, Texas. Dora enjoyed spending time with those she loved, including her husband, children, brothers, sisters, and especially her two beautiful granddaughters, LeeAnn and Kelsi. Dora loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian lady.

Dora is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Elroy Bert Coan; son, Bert Coan and wife Rita of Timpson, Texas; daughter, Kaylee Coan Burkhardt and husband Joe of Mexia, Texas; Jannette Stephens Hindman of Denton, Texas; granddaughters, LeeAnn Lusk and husband Derek, Kelsi Jacob; brother-in-law, Stanley Coan and wife Barbara; uncle, Robert Earl Hale and wife Wanda; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by parents; sister, Margaurite Stephens Andries; brothers, David Charles Stephens, and Alton Earl Stephens.

Pallbearers will be David Charles Stephens Jr., Randall Craig Stephens, Scott Clayton Stephens, Danny Arvello, Derek Lusk, Paul Bannister.
