Dick McGary, Jr. Obituary

Dick McGary, Jr., 77, of Hornbeck, Louisiana, passed away on October 17, 2021, surrounded by family, in Center, Texas. A memorial service honoring the life of Dick McGary, Jr. will be held at McGary Homestead at a future date to be determined by the family.

Dick gave his heart to God in 1983 and served God for the rest of his days.  He was a lover of history, documentaries, music, and playing guitar.  He had a green thumb and always had the most lush and beautiful yards.  Dick grew up in Baytown, Texas and after graduation joined the Navy where he faithfully served his country.  His dedication and love for his country continued even after his years of service.

Dick is survived by his son, Scott McGary and wife Holly McGary; daughters, Stacey Brandon and husband Curt Brandon, and Jennifer Harris and husband Sid Harris; brother, William Erwin McGary, and sister, Pattie Ann McGary; grandchildren, Cameron McGary, Roxanne Brandon Lewis, Jaci Chambers, Ralston Brandon, Megan Harris, Bris Brandon, Jack Harris; and great-granddaughter, Amelia Lorraine Lewis plus a host of loved ones and numerous friends that felt like family.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life for 29 years, his wife, Cathie Sue Ponder McGary; mother, Ethel Morine Springfield McGary, and father, Dick Francis McGary.
