Graveside services for Charles Joe Hughes, 89, of Overton, Texas, will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Mt. Herman Cemetery with Orval Miller officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Taylor Funeral Home.
Charles Joe Hughes, 89, of New London, formerly of Timpson, TX, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Henderson, TX.
Charles Joe was born August 9, 1935, in Waterman, TX to Robert Cleave Hughes and Gertie Dee Renfro Hughes. He was a truck driver most of his life hauling chips, chickens, gravel and logs until he retired and moved to New London to be closer to Curtis.
Charles Joe is survived by daughter, Lowana “Cissy” Amos and husband, Stanley, sons Clifford Hughes and wife, Joeleen and Curtis Hughes and wife, Misty, grandchildren Shuan Milford and wife, Cheryl, Megan Adams and husband, Joshua, Levi Hughes and wife, Samantha, Baylee Hughes and fiancé Karissa Samples, Annabelle Hughes, Kailyn Hughes, Jessica Holloway and husband, Robbie, and Joseph Cline and wife, Christine, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charles Joe is preceded in death by parents, Cleave and Gertie Hughes, brothers Robert Ray Hughes and Leonard Hughes and nephew Rodney Hughes.
Pallbearers will be Shaun Milford, Joshua Adams, Levi Hughes, Baylee Hughes, Jagger Allen and Joseph Cline.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Bush, Michael Henry Bush, Billy Thompson, Randy Robertson, Stanley Amos, Pete Andrews and Ronnie Peace.
